Choosing Composite Holders and Organizer Systems

• Light-Protection Importance — Composite resin begins curing when exposed to operatory light -- holders must block ambient and dental light to prevent premature polymerisation. Use opaque or UV-blocking holders for all composite capsules and syringes; never leave composite exposed on an open tray under operatory light.
• Capsule Ring Holders — Ring-style holders organise multiple compule capsules upright, preventing accidental discharge and keeping shades labelled and accessible. Most ring holders accommodate 6-12 capsules and can be autoclaved; they mount on the bracket tray or counter for convenient access during placement.
• Syringe Tip Dispensers — Tip dispenser blocks hold loaded composite syringes vertically, preventing tip clogging and shade cross-contamination. Dedicated dispenser blocks eliminate the need to recap syringes between patients -- the tip remains protected in the dispenser slot.

• Autoclave Compatibility — Metal and autoclave-rated polymer composite holders tolerate 134 deg C steam sterilisation for infection control. Remove composite materials from the holder before autoclaving -- the holding tray/frame is what is sterilised, not the capsules.
• Tray vs Counter Mount — Bracket tray-mounted holders keep composite within the sterile field; counter-mounted dispensers suit high-volume multi-shade workflows. Use a tray-mounted ring holder for single-shade restorations; a counter dispenser system for complex anterior cosmetic cases requiring multiple shades.
