Check the map, not the printed address
Start here, because this one costs people their morning.
The official IDEX site prints its venue address as 9 Mosadaq Street, Doki, Giza. The Google Maps pin embedded on that same page sits at 30.0131, 31.3847. That pin is in New Cairo. The two locations are 16.9 kilometres apart.
The Doki address is the organiser's office. The show floor is the Egypt International Exhibition Center, on the El-Moshir Tantawy axis in the Fifth Settlement. If you copy the printed street address into a ride app, you will drive to Giza while the show runs in New Cairo.
Use the map pin. Search for the venue by name, not by that street address.
August or January: which IDEX you are planning for
IDEX Egypt runs twice in 2026, and both editions have live websites.
Last year's site is still online and still ranking. Search for the show and you will find egypt.idexevent.com, which shows 07 to 09 August, 250 exhibitors and 7,500 visitors. Those were the 2025 numbers. It currently sits one position below the 2026 site in Google results.
The August 2026 edition is at aug26.idexevent.com. It runs 13 to 15 August with 350 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors. Check the year in the page header before you write the dates in your diary.

The venue has parking for roughly 3,300 cars. It fills early on the first morning. Friday is usually the heaviest day.
IDEX Egypt registration, badges and the app
Registration is open on the official site. The organiser also runs an event app that holds your badge as a QR code.
One thing catches people out. The older domain, www.idexevent.com, now serves a page telling you the app is required. That is not an error on your side. Go to the current edition site instead.
If you are travelling from outside Egypt, the organiser issues visa invitation letters. Request that early, not in the show week.
Who exhibits, and what that means for your list
The floor mixes three very different kinds of seller.
Equipment makers and their agents. Units, autoclaves, imaging, motors. This is where a show visit genuinely pays, because you can put your hands on the thing and meet the person who will service it.
Materials distributors. Composites, impression materials, adhesives, endo files. Volume deals live here.
Small consumable traders. Gloves, cotton, burs, disposables. Prices move a lot between booths.
Walk the equipment halls first, while you still have patience for a demonstration. Leave consumables for the last afternoon, when you can buy on price alone.

Two things stand out. Most offers are single items, not bundles, so the discount is on the sticker rather than hidden in a pack you did not want. And the median sits at 850 EGP, which means this is mostly a consumables and small-instrument event, not an equipment one.

How to tell a real offer from a sticker
Four checks take about a minute each.
Check the expiry date on the actual box. Not the display unit. Short-dated stock is the most common way a show discount is funded. For composites and adhesives this matters most.
Ask who services it, and where. For any device, get the name of the service agent in Egypt and their address. No local agent means a repair becomes an import problem.
Get the warranty in writing, on the invoice. A verbal promise at a booth is worth nothing in November.
Compare against your normal supplier before you pay. You have a phone. Two minutes of checking beats three months of regret.
A three-day plan that covers the floor once
Day one, Thursday. Arrive early. Walk the whole floor without buying anything. Note booth numbers for the things you actually want. Attend one course if the schedule suits you.
Day two, Friday. The busiest day. Go back to your shortlist. Ask the four questions above at every booth. Get quotes in writing. Still do not buy.
Day three, Saturday. Buy. Sellers are more flexible on the last day, especially on stock they would otherwise pack and ship back. Consumables in bulk are the clearest win.
This sounds slow. It is the difference between coming home with equipment you chose and equipment that was sold to you.
The part nobody plans for
Every clinic in Egypt has the same cupboard. A curing light bought at a show because the rep was convincing, which does not suit the composite already on the shelf. A handpiece with no service agent in the country. Both were a good price.
The cost is never the money. It is the three weeks the clinic runs on borrowed equipment while a repair waits on a part.
A show is a good place to buy. It is a bad place to decide.
