Grossman’s Endodontic Practice 2021

Grossman's Endodontic Practice is one of the knowledge-packed and popular textbooks in the field of Endodontics and has continually evolved to this 14th edition, which marks the 81st anniversary of the book. Grossman published the first book on Endodontic Practice in 1940. This edition of the book has been edited by Dr. V. Gopi Krishna, an eminent academician and excellent clinician, and has case reports and images from over 50 contributors from more than 25 countries who are recognized experts in this field. The book covers the various topics in Endodontics extensively over 24 chapters. The book starts with an exclusive chapter on “The Dental Pulp and Periradicular Tissues,” which covers extensively the concepts of embryology of tooth, normal pulp, and normal periradicular tissues in three parts. The chapters on Microbiology, Diseases of Pulp and Periradicular areas succinctly detail the various aspects of endodontic microbiology and the pathogenenesis of disease on the pulp and periradicular areas.

The chapters on Clinical diagnostic methods, Endodontic emergencies, Case selection, and Principles of endodontic treatment discusses enormous amount of detail which will aid in clinical practice in Endodontics. Exclusive well-written chapters with high-quality images on vital pulp therapy and apexification, as well as regenerative endodontics, detail the current literature in these clinical situations.

The management of endodontic cases is well organized under various chapters starting from anatomy of tooth, introduction of a variety of rotary instrumentation to suit the choice of the practitioner, disinfection of root canal with various endodontic irrigants and intracanal medicaments, and ends with a chapter detailing the materials and techniques on obturation with many clinical cases as examples. “Procedural errors, prevention, and management” is an especially useful chapter to warn against accidental mistakes committed during the endodontic procedures.
