Decision Making in INFERTILITY 2020

Learning is a never-ending endeavor and even more so for a fertility specialist. The field of infertility
is ever changing and the percentage of couples approaching us for fertility management is only
increasing with time. Over the past few decades, there has been a tremendous progress in the field of
fertility with consistent increase in the pregnancy rates owing to emerging cutting edge technology
as well as evidence-based management. Despite there being a surge in the number of books, articles,
and literature available over fertility management, long chapters can sometimes be complicated, and
very often are not able to provide a step-by-step approach that gives concise and practical perspective
to fertility management.
When Shri Jitendar P Vij (Group Chairman) of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd,
New Delhi, India approached us for revamping a book on algorithms, which was originally edited by
Professor Alan De Churney, it seemed like a herculean task to put forward over one hundred algorithms
on infertility. But we realized, that a book like that, is definitely the need of the hour. Thus, began the
journey of this baby—Decision Making in Infertility. We requested over 70 experts to create a stepby-step approach to fertility management from something as basic as evaluation to something as
advanced as genetic evaluation which were subsequently edited into algorithms. All the chapters are written in a format
of one page algorithm that catalogs the line of action and one page text, elaborating the algorithm. This simple format
makes this book as an excellent choice as a ready reckoner for practicing fertility specialists of all spectrums. The beauty
of the book also lies in its crisp, clear cut, and extremely practical approach.
